Build a Practice That Works in Real Life

Foundations for Practice offers practical guidance for regulated health professionals building and running independent practices. Understand the business behind your work, make clearer decisions, and create a practice that is financially and personally sustainable.

Professional Training Does Not Teach You How to Run a Practice

Most health professionals are well prepared to serve the people who come to them. They are often far less prepared for everything required to build and sustain the practice around that work.

Pricing, referrals, finances, administration, boundaries, workload and business decisions can become surprisingly heavy—especially when you are trying to figure them out alone.

Foundations for Practice brings these often-overlooked parts of practice ownership into the open and offers practical guidance for navigating them.

Business Has Always Been Part of My Story

About Trish Morris

I have been involved in business in one form or another for most of my life. I started my first small business when I was 13, running a daycare from my family’s home for the summer. Since then, I have earned two degrees, worked in corporate finance, built and managed a group psychotherapy practice, and later operated a nonprofit practice.

Along the way, I have also helped other business owners work through the practical decisions involved in starting and developing their businesses. One of the parts of my work I have always loved is helping people turn what they know how to do into a business that can genuinely succeed.

That is why I partnered with Foundations for Practice. As its educational content creator, I draw on my business background and firsthand experience of practice ownership to create practical articles and assessments for health professionals. My goal is to make the business side of independent practice easier to understand and help professionals build practices that are financially sound, personally sustainable and workable in real life.

Looking for Something Else?

Foundations for Practice is the professional-practice education part of my work. If that is not what brought you here, you may find what you need through one of these other paths.
