FOUR-PART BIBLE STUDY

The Book of Jonah

Jonah is often remembered as the man swallowed by a great fish, but his story is really about a complicated relationship with God. Across four studies, we follow Jonah as he runs from God, experiences an unexpected rescue, obeys reluctantly and struggles when God extends mercy to people Jonah believes do not deserve it. This series invites us to consider our own resistance, the ways God meets us when we run and what happens when His compassion reaches beyond the people we would choose.

Individual Bible Studies

DAVID AND BATHSHEBA · 2 SAMUEL 11

It’s Not All About You

When something painful happens, it is natural to ask what the experience means for us. This study considers personal responsibility, the harm our choices can cause and how to recognize when we are standing at the edge of someone else’s story.

REBEKAH · GENESIS 25–27

Check Mom’s Guilt at the Door

Rebekah loved her son and wanted what she believed was best for him, but fear led her to try to control the outcome. Her story helps us distinguish between taking responsibility for our mistakes and carrying responsibility for another person’s entire future.

Why I Study
Scripture

I study the Bible because I want to know God more deeply. My faith is rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus, and Scripture helps me understand who He is, how He loves us and how He calls us to live.

The Bible also helps me understand people. It speaks honestly about love, fear, suffering, conflict, forgiveness, purpose and hope. These are not distant theological ideas. They are part of the lives and relationships we experience every day.

I do not study Scripture merely to gather information. I study it because I want God’s Word to shape how I think, how I treat people and how I live.

Real Life Through the Bible

The people in the Bible lived through complicated families, painful disappointments, difficult choices, damaged relationships and unexpected changes in direction. Their stories can help us understand God—and recognize parts of ourselves that we might otherwise overlook.

These studies look at familiar biblical stories from angles we may not have considered before, connecting Scripture with the relationships, choices and struggles we experience today.

Honest about Real Life

We will talk openly about guilt, rejection, disappointment, resentment, forgiveness, imperfect families and the times when life does not unfold as we hoped.

A Closer Look at Familiar Stories

We will slow down, examine the biblical text and consider details or perspectives that are easily missed when a story becomes too familiar.

Understanding God, People and Ourselves

Each study will consider what Scripture teaches us about God, how people behave and how we can live with greater faith, wisdom and honesty.

More Bible Studies Coming

New studies will continue to be added as they are completed. Each free video explores Scripture through the relationships, choices, struggles, and questions people face in real life.
